Our prefinished wood floors combine the natural beauty and warmth of wood with the convenience of a factory-finished product, ready for you to enjoy in your home.
Following these recommendations will help you prolong the lifespan and natural beauty of your prefinished wood floors:
Daily and Routine Cleaning:
Sweep or vacuum regularly: Do this daily or every few days to remove dust, sand, and small particles that can scratch the finish. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment or a soft-bristle broom.
Always sweep or vacuum before mopping.
Damp Mopping (not wet!): Use a barely damp microfiber mop with a specific cleaner for prefinished wood floors (ask us which one we recommend). Absolutely avoid excessive water; it's wood's worst enemy!
Spill and Stain Management:
Act immediately: Clean any spill right away with a clean, dry cloth.
For specific stains: For food or liquid stains, use a damp cloth with the recommended wood cleaner. Avoid scrubbing forcefully.
Essential Protection:
Felt pads on furniture: Place felt or plastic protectors on the legs of all furniture, chairs, and tables to prevent scratches when moving them.
Rugs in key areas: Use rugs or carpets in high-traffic areas (hallways, entrances) and under chairs with casters. Make sure the rugs have a backing that allows the floor to breathe.
Pet care: Keep your pets' nails short and clean to prevent scratches.
Footwear care: Avoid walking with high heels or shoes with damaged soles that can mark the floor.
Environmental Control:
Maintain humidity: Try to keep your home's relative humidity between 35% and 55%. In very dry climates, a humidifier can be helpful; in very humid climates, a dehumidifier.
What NOT to do:
Do not use: Abrasive cleaners, ammonia-based products, wax products, liquid waxes, furniture polish, or steam mops. These products can damage your floor's finish.
Do not leave puddles of water: Always ensure the mop is well wrung out.
Professional Maintenance
Periodically (every few years, depending on use and traffic), it is advisable to consult for professional maintenance, which may include deep cleaning or the application of an additional protective layer to renew your floor's shine and resistance.
